What is Pro Evolution Rugby?
Pro Evolution Rugby is a browser-based rugby management simulation covering four leagues: the French Top 14 (14 clubs) and Pro D2 (16), the English Premiership (10) and the URC (16). You take control of one of 56 clubs and manage everything: squad selection, tactics, transfers, stadium, finances, and media relations. The goal? Win the title, such as the Bouclier de Brennus (the French championship trophy).
The game features parody club names inspired by Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) from the 2000s, adding a fun and lighthearted twist to the management experience. Think STAR Toulouse, SFR Paris, and LOL Lyon.
Key Features
Full Squad Management
Manage a roster of about forty players with detailed stats: attack, defense, kicking, stamina, and discipline. Young players develop over time, veterans decline, and your youth academy produces new talents every season. Each player has a unique personality (leader, loyal, mercenary, introvert, or hothead) that affects team dynamics.
Transfers and Scouting
The summer transfer window runs until matchday 4 and the winter window from matchday 13 to 16; free agents can sign at any time. Make offers to rival clubs, negotiate prices, sign free agents, or send scouts to discover youth talents in rival academies. Watch your budget though: the DNACG (French rugby's financial watchdog) keeps a close eye on your spending.
5 Tactical Systems
Choose from 5 distinct tactical approaches:
- Running Game : Quick ball movement, offloads, dynamic play
- Kicking Game : Territory control, aerial contests
- Set Piece : Dominant scrum, lineout, rolling maul
- Wide Game : Spread the ball, exploit fast wingers
- Defensive Wall : High tackle count, pressure, wait for mistakes
The five systems form a cycle: each one beats two others and loses to the remaining two, so check your opponent's tactic before you pick yours. Fine-tune your approach with tempo (slow/normal/fast), kicking strategy (normal/territorial/attacking), defence, rucks and aggression.
Live Match Simulation
Matches play out phase by phase (32 phases = 80 minutes of game time). By default the match runs in semi-auto mode: it plays on by itself and you step in whenever you want. Follow it on a 2D pitch, in a 3D stadium or in the live feed, with real-time commentary covering tries, conversions, penalties, yellow and red cards, injuries, and more. Make tactical changes and substitutions during the match to influence the outcome.
Stadium and Finances
Grow your stadium capacity, upgrade 10 different facilities (medical center, youth academy, VIP lounges, club shop, floodlights...), and manage ticket pricing. Sign sponsors for your shirt, stadium naming rights, TV deals, and equipment. If money gets tight, you can take out a bank loan... or a shadier financing option with higher risks. In the Top 14 and Pro D2, the JIFF rule applies: at least 12 French-trained players on the matchday squad on average over the season, or a fine is taken from your budget at the end of the season (never a points deduction).

- Haka : Nightmare mode. Budget -25%, AI gets a +20% boost, injuries +50%.
